The public art of Marek Walczak & Wes Heiss

VIDEO PORTRAITS OF VISITORS TO THE WISHARD HOSPITAL FROM THE PRESENT AND THE PAST.

At the original Wishard Hospital, portraits of children from different cultures were placed above the beds in the children’s ward.

Video portraits of patients and visitors to the Clinic offer a continuity with the egalitarian past of the hospital.

Videobooth where a person can make a video of themselves and add it to the collection. The software only records 15 seconds of a person standing as still as possible. By showing only small movements, the piece slows people watching down, creating a calming effect.

People can make a video of themselves and come back later, maybe years later, and see themselves and others from the past. Young adults can see themselves back when they were children.

Cast metal ‘path’ indicating time from past to present.
Depending where people stand, videos are displayed from that time period.
